Academics and NGOs Open Mic Night ‘Evaluating programmes in international development’

Wednesday, December 18, 2013 - 18:00 to 20:00

Time: 6 – 8 pm

Venue: Brunei Gallery, SOAS, Thornhaugh Street, London WC1H 0XG

LIDC is pleased to invite you to an ‘Academics and NGOs Open Mic Night’ on 18 December, an informal night of networking and nibbles.

The academic and NGO communities are both very active in the area of international development, yet there is too little interaction between them. NGOs and academics alike produce and use ‘evidence’ and evaluate programmes, but through different, often complementary, methods and approaches.

The Open Mic Night will be an opportunity for academics and NGO workers specialising in international development and programme evaluation to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration. Participants will be invited to do 'flash talks' - very short informal talks on their experience with evaluating programmes in international development.

Who should attend:
•    LIDC academic staff members
•    LIDC alumni working for NGOs
•    Academics from London and across the UK
•    NGO staff working in various roles in international development
