The Dynamics of Growth, Inequality and Poverty Reduction: Revisited

Wednesday, December 10, 2008 (All day)

Inaugural Lecture

Time: 5.30pm

Speaker: Professor Terry McKinley, School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS)

Chair: Professor John Weeks, SOAS

Venue: Brunei Gallery, SOAS, Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, London, WC1H 0XG

The relationship between growth and equity has been the source of a long-standing debate in development, deriving, in part, from differences in the underlying values and weights attached to each of  the two objectives. This inaugural lecture draws on a large body of recent policy-oriented research in order to examine the theoretical, normative and practical relationships between growth, inequality and poverty.
