This SOAS Department of Development Studies and Bloomsbury DTC for the Social Sciences seminar will discuss gender and economic inequality. All are welcome and there is no need to book - but arrive early to be sure of a seat. Seminars are followed by a formal reception event. We look forward to seeing you there.

Professor Diane Elson is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Sociology. She is chair of the UK Women’s Budget Group, a voluntary network of researchers, trade unionists and feminist activists that analyses the impact of UK government budgets on gender equality and low income women. She also advises UN Women and is a member of the UN Committee for Development Policy. She continues to research and publish, with a focus on fiscal policy, gender equality and human rights; and she enjoys interacting with feminist scholars in Scotland, as a Visiting Professor in the Women in Scotland’s Economy Research Centre at Glasgow Caledonian University.
