UCL'S Centre for Education and International Development is organising a public seminar with Dr Amod Mani Dixit & Niva Upreti, National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal to discuss the impact of Nepal’s 2015 earthquake on education. This event is part of the Education in Conflict in Emergencies seminar series and supported by Society of Nepalese Professionals – UK and Society of Nepalese Engineers - UK.
This seminar will highlight some of the major milestones of earthquake risk management efforts in Nepal focussing on the effectiveness of the School Earthquake Safety Program (SESP). It will also discuss the growing scientific collaboration between UK universities and Nepalese institutions including, NSET in aspects of earthquake research, and make a case for future strategies to be implemented in Nepal through possible contributions from Nepalese diaspora in the UK in assisting Nepal in enhancing capacities for earthquake risk reduction.

The symposium is free to attend and open to all; teachers, researchers, students, practitioners and alumni are warmly invited to attend.
