Dr Jasmine Gideon and Dr Suneetha Kadiyala

This is part of the Undertanding Development Series that aims to bring two perspectives on one development issue.

Dr Jasmine Gideon is a Senior Lecturer in Development Studies BBK with a specific focus on the gendered political economy of health in Latin America. She has a PhD and an MSc in Development Studies and a BA (Hons) in History. Most recently she has been involved in an UNRSID research project on migration and health in China and the UNU WIDER project on Aid for Gender Equality. Her research is centered on the gendered political economy of health and is specifically focused on three central elements: gender and health, globalization and development and transnational migration and health.

Dr Suneetha Kadiyala , Senior Lecturer in Nutrition-Sensitive Development, LSHTM is a nutritionist with research interests focusing on the intersection between agriculture/food systems and food security, health(HIV) and nutrition. She is a core faculty member of the Leverhulme Centre for Integrative Research on Agriculture and Health (LCIRAH). She is the Principal Investigator of IMMANA (Innovative Methods and Metrics for Agriculture and Nutrition Actions), DFID’s partnership to stimulate the development and application of scientifically sound methods and metrics in agriculture, health and nutrition research.
