No Goals at Half-Time: What Next for the Millennium Development Goals?

Wednesday, November 5, 2008 (All day)

Time: 9am - 5pm

Venue: Birkbeck

Speakers and programme: Provisional programme available to LIDC members on the Bloomsbury Learning Environment (www.ble.ac.uk)

Progress towards the MDGs is faltering badly half-way towards 2015 and a high-level event will be held at the UN headquarters on 25 September to address the situation. LIDC members will respond to these developments on 5 November by examining the delivery and constraints of the MDGs as well as identifying links between them. They will share their MDG-related expertise and experience, explore the research gaps between sectors and investigate opportunities for further collaborative work between sectors and disciplines. There will also be opportunities to critique the reasoning underpinning the MDGs.

Registration: This event is only open to LIDC members (staff from the Bloomsbury Colleges - Birkbeck, Institute of Education, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Royal Veterinary College, School of Oriental and African Studies, and The School of Pharmacy) and a limited number of places are available for students from the Bloomsbury Colleges. Please email Guy Collender (guy.collender@lidc.bloomsbury.ac.uk) to reserve your place and for more information.
