HRH Princes Anne Inaugurates LIDC Premises

HRH Princess Anne inaugurated the premises of  the LIDC on Tuesday 3 June, 2008, in her capacity as the Chancellor of the University of London. The Princess Royal expressed delight at the re-opening of the old Georgian building and deep interest in LIDC’s work.

After being warmly welcomed by Sir Andy Haines (Director of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine) and Professor Jeff Waage (LIDC’s Director) the Princess Royal interacted with the LIDC staff, building residents and representatives from the six colleges. The visit, which lasted over an hour, was followed by tea.

Situated next to the scenic Gordon Square gardens, the LIDC premises hosts over 70 academics from the six Bloomsbury Colleges, namely; Birkbeck, the Institute of Education, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the Royal Veterinary College, the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and the School of Pharmacy.
