LIDC Director speaks at the ‘Leveraging Agriculture for Improving Nutrition and Health’ conference in New Delhi

Jeff Waage, LIDC’s Director, was a panelist at the ‘Leveraging Agriculture for Improving Nutrition and Health’ conference held in New Delhi on 10-12 February 2011.
Close to 1,000 leading experts and practitioners in the areas of agriculture, nutrition and health gathered in New Delhi to discuss how these disciplines can link better to harness the potential of agriculture to improve nutrition and health.
Jeff Waage participated in a panel discussion on ‘Innovative Approaches and Initiatives for Better Linking Agriculture, Nutrition, and Health’. He talked about the new Leverhulme Centre for Integrative Research on Agriculture and Health (LCIRAH) that LIDC is supporting, aiming to build an inter-sectoral and inter-disciplinary platform for integrating research and training on agriculture and health.
LCIRAH was created in response to a lack of research integration in addressing issues of poverty reduction, sustainable development and globalisation. It is an attempt to coordinate and join efforts between health and agricultural specialists, including PhD design and supervision, workshops, courses and publications.
