LIDC INTERDISCIPLINARY SEED FUND FOR 2015-2016 

Applications are being accepted until Friday October 16th 2015

The LIDC Interdisciplinary Seed Fund supports new collaborative research projects in international development between academics from at least two different Bloomsbury Colleges – LIDC members.

The programme awards grants of up to £6,000 per project in seed funding, to support cutting-edge ideas for international development reseach.

Eligibility

Applications must be submitted by at least two individuals representing at least two different LIDC Colleges. The funds will be transferred to one institution which will subsequently partition the money accordingly. Both applicants must be academic members of staff from one of the Bloomsbury Colleges (Birkbeck, UCL - Institute of Education, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, SOAS, Royal Veterinary College). Early career researchers are particularly encouraged to apply.

  • Academic quality
  • Potential impact on future inter-sectoral and interdisciplinary research in international development across LIDC colleges

Projects Funded in 2015

1) Development of a Research Proposal on Zoonotic Rransmission of Antimicrobial Resistant Bacteria - Mishal Khan (LSHTM) & Ana Mateus (RVC).

2) Towards the Development of an Interdisciplinary Research Programme Investigating the Impacts of Changing Food Systems on Nutrition and Health Outcomes - Barbara Haesler (RVC), Rosemary Green (LSHTM), Suneetha Kadiyala (LSHTM), Bhavani Shankar (SOAS) & Karen Lock (LSHTM).

3) Livestock Production and Zoonotic Risk: Estimating the Prevalence of Porcine Cysticercosis Among Swine in Cambodia - Ana Mateus (RVC) & James Rudge (LSHTM).
