LIDC is looking for a new Director

Closing Date:   Sunday 13 March 2016
Interview Date:   To be confirmed
Reference:  LIDCDIR

The London International Development Centre (LIDC) is a consortium of the Bloomsbury Colleges of the University of London: Birkbeck, UCL Institute of Education, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Royal Veterinary College, and SOAS, University of London.

It was established to facilitate a collaborative environment in which to develop novel, cross-College initiatives, interdisciplinary research and training in international development.

On the impending retirement of Professor Jeff Waage in September 2016, LIDC invites applications for the position of Director. It is anticipated that the appointment will be at 0.5 FTE for a fixed term of up to five years, but subject to negotiation with the successful candidate, it may, in addition, be associated with a Professorial post in the relevant College.

The Director provides academic leadership to the Centre, ensuring the continuing development of a world-leading and sustainable organisation, developing new areas that provide collective benefit, and securing major external investment to support the Centre’s further long-term development. The post will be based at LIDC’s offices in London.

We are seeking an outstanding individual with a broad understanding of the international development sector, a strong track record of securing external funding, and proven ability to generate and maintain both inter-disciplinary and cross-institutional research networks, and networks and relationships among a range of academics and practitioners internationally, including in research funding agencies, governments, international organisations and the private sector. A competitive salary, commensurate with experience, is offered.

Further information on how to apply is available via the LSHTM website though final the contract may be offered to the successful candidate from any of the member colleges. Ref: LIDCDir
