Podcast: How can we engage children in global development issues?

We are thrilled to announce the relaunch of the popular LIDC podcast series 'Development Matters'.

Development Matters is a monthly podcast series produced by the London International Development Centre (LIDC) which explores current international development issues through discussions with leading scholars from across the globe.LIDC catalyses interdisciplinary research and training to tackle complex problems in international development and each topic discussed in the podcast series will be approached from an interdisciplinary perspective. The podcasts are presented by Anjuli Borgonha, Communications Officer at LIDC. 

The first episode of 2016 explores the question how can we engage children in global development issues?

This discussion looks at development education in schools and how to engage children in global development issues. Dr. Doug Bourn, Director of UCL’s Development Education Research Centre (DERC) and SOAS Senior Fellow Dr. Ben Dix, founder of the charity PositiveNegatives that is currently piloting a new education programme called WhyComics? which aims to communicate complex humanitarian issues to schoolchildren through educational comics, discuss the concept of ‘global citizenship’, why teaching children about sustainable development and humanitarianism is important and how to educate children on issues such as conflict, migration, climate change and poverty.
