Restless Development head announced as main speaker at conference

Nik Hartley heads up the youth focused Restless Development. He will be joining us for a key note speech on how young people can make a difference towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

On Thursday LIDC, in collaboration with UCL and the 5 Bloomsbury Colleges, will hold a one day conference on the Global Goals. This event will explore all 17 goals, with the chance to put questions to a panel of experts, as well as more focused discussions around broader themes.

Nik will be in conversation with Dame Henrietta Moore. Because the goals are being applied universally, her views on the SDGs are clear: 'we are all developing countries now'.

This is part of a larger body of research coordinated by LIDC and UCL to examine the SDGs. One of the main messages from the book Thinking Beyond Sectors is that governance of development goals is important to the design and future implementation of the SDGs. It also shows the 17 SDGs represented in three concentric layers, reflecting their main intended outcomes. This framework reveals potential conflicts and synergies between goals, and how their interactions might be governed.

Register for the conference and join us to hear Nik, Henrietta and the rest of the panel. You will also get the chance to sit around in smaller groups to discuss the themes with expert moderators.
