The Rt Hon Sir Desmond Swayne TD MP Announced as Final Panellist for Aid Debate on 27th October

On Thursday 27th October the first debate of the LIDC & The Guardian upcoming Development Debate Series will take place discussing the theme of aid and asking- are we getting aid right? 

We are pleased to announced the final speaker who will sit on the debate panel as The Rt Hon Sir Desmond Swayne TD MP (Conservative).

The Rt Hon Sir Desmond Swayne TD MP (Cons)  served as Minister of State at the Department for International Development from July 2014 until July 2016. Sir Desmond's brief covered trade, conflict, humanitarian and security issues and he had responsibility for Asia, the Caribbean and the Middle East.

He will join Fatimah Kelleher, Professor Stephen Chan and Professor Kara Hanson whose biographies can be found here.


The debate will be moderated by Bibi van der Zee.

Bibi van der Zee is a writer and editor at the Guardian who specialises in global development and environmental issues. She edits the Guardian’s Global Development Professionals Network and is also author of The Protester’s Handbook.
