Dr Jason Hart, Refugee Studies Centre, University of Oxford will speak on 'Palestinian children and the educative power of bombs'.

In this paper Jason Hart aims to highlight and critique Israeli rhetoric about how Palestinian children are taught by their parents and teachers to hate Israel. At the same time the Israeli authorities - like others -  also apparently believe that dropping bombs (or building a wall, preventing children's mobility, arbitrary arrest and detention, etc) either has no effect in terms of disposition or might even impart lessons about the need to support 'peace' and 'co-existence'.

Katie Taylor (Warchild UK) will speak on ‘Child Protection in Palestine: International Responsibility’

Katie Taylor contextualizes the latest attacks in Gaza within the frame of the larger and ongoing child protection issues facing Palestinian children.

There will be a screening of the DEC appeal and the MAP appeals.

All welcome
